Small upgrades, big difference
Outlet, Switch and GFCI/AFCI Upgrades
Not enough outlets, worn-out receptacles that won't hold a plug and two-prong outlets in older homes are everyday frustrations, and some are safety issues. GFCI and AFCI protection add important shock and fire protection that many older homes lack.
Grand Electric, Inc. adds outlets where you need them, replaces worn and ungrounded devices and installs GFCI and AFCI protection where code requires it. We can also install USB outlets, smart switches and dimmers.

Common questions
Outlet and GFCI FAQs
What is the difference between GFCI and AFCI?
GFCI protection helps prevent electric shock by shutting off power when current leaks to ground. AFCI protection helps prevent fires by detecting dangerous arcing in wiring.
Where are GFCI outlets required?
In kitchens, bathrooms, garages, laundry areas, outdoors and other locations near water. We bring these areas up to current requirements.
Can I just swap a two-prong outlet for a three-prong one?
Not without a ground or GFCI protection. We'll test the circuit and recommend a safe, code-compliant fix.
Can you add an outlet in a finished wall?
Yes. We can usually fish wiring through existing walls to add outlets with very little patching.
